Formati nel 1969 da Keith Relf e Jim McCarty (ex-Yardbirds), i Renaissance evolvono presto nella line-up classica con Annie Haslam, Michael Dunford, John Tout, Jon Camp e Terence Sullivan. Tra il 1972 e il 1979 pubblicano i dischi simbolo del rock sinfonico britannico. Sciolti nel 1987, si riformano nel 1998; tra le uscite recenti, Grandine Il Vento/Symphony of Light.
