L'album si apre con "you give good love" e "thinking about you", due canzoni prodotte e arrangiate da Kashif, nonostante la loro bellezza il disco prende davvero quota solo con "someone for me" un pezzo prodotto da Jermaine Jackson nel quale la Houston canta malinconica su un background jazz disco, il pezzo "saving all my love to you" è quello piu sexy e romantico dove è possibile avvertire l'influenza dei gruppi pop femminili degli anni 60 (Gerry Goffin ne è coautore), un altra perla si intitola "nobody loves me like you do" è un esempio di quanto possano essere sofisticati i versi di quest'album. Se c'è una cosa di cui il disco non soffre infatti è la mediocrità dei testi, che spesso affligge i cantanti che non scrivono in proprio i versi, affidandosi al gusto artistico dei bussiness-man. Ma in questo caso la Houston e i suoi collaboratori hanno centrato l'obiettivo.
Il singolo dance "how i will know" è a mio giudizio il miglior pezzo dance degli anni 80, è un ode gioiosa ai timori di una ragazza incerta dell'interesse che un uomo prova per lei, il riff delle tastiere bontempi è straordinario ed è l'unico pezzo del disco prodotto da quel ragazzo prodigio che è Narada Michael Walden, la mia ballata preferita è "all at once" dedicata ad una giovane donna che ad un tratto si rende conto di come il suo amore stia finendo (gli autori accreditati del pezzo sono Michael Masser e Linda Creed). Mi fanno incazzare quelli che dicono che Laura Pausini è la Whitney Houston italiana, è evidente che cantanti come la laura meno-pausini hanno avuto solo culo nella vita per arrivare dove sono arrivate, come dice il mio fidanzato per avere successo servono 3 cose essenzialmente: oc, pasiensa e bus der cul.
Spero di avervi fatto riscoprire una grande artista e spero di essere riuscita a prendere e dare quello che dovevo prendere e quello che dovevo dare.
