Gli Air hanno scritto la storia della musica francese nel mondo negli ultimi dieci anni, anche grazie al successo del bellissimo "Moon Safari", un disco pieno di sonorità rilassanti e adatti per i momenti più "intimi".
Con alcune produzioni successive però hanno perso un pò di freschezza ["10.000 Hertz Legend" (2001) e si sono permessi la composizione di pezzi più commerciali, ma di buona qualità ("Talkie Walkie"(2004)], dove comunque si sentivano suoni nuovi da migliorare.
Il gruppo con l'ottavo album in dieci anni, cerca di perfezionare la loro musica, dando alle stampe un cd con dodici tracce da ascoltare in momenti particolari, soprattutto nei momenti in cui ci si vuole riposare ascoltando musica sognante. Tutte le canzoni tengono in rilassatezza l'ascoltatore e i brani da sette minuti che potrebbero annoiare non ci sono più, sostituiti da brevi e buone prove compositive.
Nominare i pezzi migliori non serve perchè sono tutti sullo stesso livello, però c'è da sottolineare che ci sono delle novità nella musica degli Air. Infatti il duo parigino ha introdotto per la prima volta anche strumenti musicali provenienti dal Giappone, creando anche composizioni che richiamano le sonorità tipiche della nazione del sol levante, come già accaduto in "Alone In Kyoto", il miglior pezzo estratto dall'LP precedente.
Da sottolineare la presenta alle voce in due tracce ("One Hell Of A Party" e "Somewhere Between Walking And Sleeping") in cui il gruppo fa cantare Jarvis Cocker, il cantante dei Pulp, visto che nel precedente "Talkie Walkie" la prova vocale dei francesi non è stata molto buona.
"Pocket Symphony" è anticipato dal singolo "Once Upon A Time", un brano che descrive in pieno quello che si troverà all'interno del nuovo album del gruppo parigino.
Questo è un tentativo di tornare alle origini, e se questo è il punto di partenza, non sono messi male come altri gruppi che vanno avanti anni con lo stesso intento.
Adatto a chi sono sempre piaciuti gli Air, e per chi non li ha ancora ascoltati sarebbe un buon punto di partenza.
