Viste le premesse posta da 'Prey on Life', suoni dilatati, smodato uso di effettistica, canzoni di ampio respiro, il futuro dei Burst sembrava destinato a realizzarsi in una tranquilla deriva post-core/post-rock à la 'Isis' o 'Cult Of Luna'. Previsione errata.
La sensazione è però che il quintetto svedese dell'ex Nasum Jesper Liverod abbia involontariamente lasciato indietro qualcosa di importante: quel qualcosa che rendeva grande un disco come 'Prey On Life' e che manca ad 'Origo'.
'Prey On Life' attuava la commistione tra generi in modo naturale e spontaneo, 'Origo' suona artificioso, testardo nel rincorrere il precedente ingombrante modello, incapace di uscire dal seminato e dall'abusato.' Le intemperanze psichedeliche vengono ora accorpate all'interno di un sound compatto, quadrato, meno sperimentale e vagamente ripetitivo.
Stormwielder e Where The Wave Broke si ribellano agli schemi, non a caso sono le tracce che più si fanno notare, mentre Mercy Liberation si apre con un (involontario?) omaggio a Morricone salvo svilupparsi senza più riprendere questa interessante contaminazione.
Nella tracklist sembrano poi affollarsi troppi riempitivi, a fronte di una clamorosa infilata di capolavori quale era 'Prey On Life'. A nulla serve l'incremento nell'uso della pur piacevole voce pulita di Robert Reinholdz quando va di pari passo con l'aggravarsi della prestazione di Linus Jägerskog, monotona se vogliamo, meno graffiante che in passato.
Pensiamo pure a 'Prey On Life' come al sigillo che chiude un'era dei Burst; 'Origo' non è che la prima tappa di un nuovo processo di evoluzione: il risultato manca di contorni ben definiti e a volte perde di vista l'obiettivo da perseguire ma lascia ben sperare per quello che sarà il punto di arrivo.

L'alternanza fra la voce roca di Jägerskog e quella pulita di Reinholdz è uno dei punti migliori dell'album.
Con questo album hanno raggiunto un ottimo livello qualitativo. Magari in futuro tireranno fuori qualche capolavoro... chissà!!!
