Perchè?
E' questo che mi sono domandato dopo aver ascoltato l'ultimo cd del signor Cornell.
Sia chiaro che non sono mai stato un suo grande fan, nè con i Soundgarden nè con gli Audioslave, ma un minimo da un cantante così dotato me lo aspettavo.
Chris, a quanto sembra, ha deciso di lavorare con Timbaland per il suo nuovo album, dando vita a sessantaquattro minuti di musica semplicemente allucinante. Viene da chiedersi se non si ha sbagliato cd, ma purtroppo è proprio lui, il nostro Chris, che salta in copertina nell'intento di sfasciare una chitarra. Cosa che indica dove andrà a parare l'album.
Si parte con "Part of me" e vengono le lacrime agli occhi. Un R&B di quinta categoria con la voce che si sente pochissimo, coperta dai miliardi di effetti aggiunti. E l'album continua così, dall'insopportabile "Ground zero" allo scontato ritornello di "Scream", forse la traccia migliore.
Finito di ascoltare l'album non si è arrabbiati. Per niente. Sessanta minuti di R&B tolgono la forza anche di incazzarti. Semplicemente rimani lì dove sei, a guardare il nulla, depresso. Una grande voce del rock si è buttata via definitivamente così?
Sembra di sì, non ho altre parole.
Sconcertante.
