I Feeder, quasi sconosciuti dalle nostre parti, sono un trio con molti cambiamenti nella loro musica.
Erano partiti che facevano Heavy Rock, sono passati al Punk Rock e, dopo il suicidio del batterista Jon Lee, prorpio all'apice della loro carriera, sono passati a un Rock più lento e calmo.
'The Singles' ripercorre tutta la loro carriera, focalizzandosi soprattutto sulla parte centrale della carriera e sugli ultimi cd, lasciando un pò stare le origini. Il cd, un Greatest Hits per chi non l'avesse capito, è un ottimo mix tra canzoni veloci e gioiose (Just a Day su tutte) e ballate (High), che però stufano un pò troppo presto.
Sono solo 3 le nuove canzoni: la più bella, a mio avviso, è Lost & Found, ottima canzone punk. Le altre 2 sono piu in linea con gli ultimi anni. Purtroppo, le canzoni lente sono più numerose delle saltellanti, ma comunque belle. I Feeder sono sempre stati una band da singolo, cioè che in generale, nei precedenti album, prevelevano sempre le 2-3 canzoni più belle su tutte le altre.
Il bello di 'The Singles' sta nella varietà. Parte bene con "Come Back Around" e continua alla grande con "Buck Rogers", Lost & Found e "Just a Day". Poi rallenta improvvisamente con High e tutte le altre.
Un'ultima nota: il cd è venduto insieme ad un DVD con più di 20 video, praticamente tutti!
