Una recenzione era troppo poco per quest'album, specialmente quando non ne esalta la vera natura; quindi diro'anche la mia. Siamo nel 1988, Rob Halford & Co. si ritirarono per la registrazione nel paese scandinavo della Danimarca; dal quale ne scaturi' il conseguente "Scandinavian Tour 1988/89".
Quest'album è una delle teste di diamante di questa band britannica, che ha contribuito enormemente alla crescita stessa del genere "Heavy Metal" (l'altro album si intitolera' "Painkiller" e uscira' di li a poco). "Ram It Down" e' l'opener di questo fantastico lavoro, un urlo in grado di spezzare in due il cuore dell'ascoltatore per poi proseguire alla velocita' della luce fino all'incredibile doppio assolo di K.K.D. & G.Tipton, (a mio avviso degno per violinisti di musica classica....... non country..... OKKIO)!!! Il pezzo si chiudera' cosi'com'e' iniziato, senza nessun calo di ritmi e nessuna esitatione.... da ascoltare tutto d'un fiato quindi.
Ma quando ancora si cerca di riprendersi, dallo schock traumatico causato dalla traccia iniziale, ecco che ripiombiamo in un vorticoso assolo di chitarra, trasgressivo e feroce, quanto mai geniale, lungo una vita (tecnicamente parlando), non è altro che l'inizio della seconda track list "Heavy Metal" pezzo che tenta di racchiudere, tutte le caratteristiche del genere musicale in questione; indimenticabile la performance del vocalist "Rob Halford". La terza traccia, sembra essere un po' piu' frivola ed orecchiabile rispetto alle precedenti, ma non per questo da meno (bellissima la batteria iniziale con rullante/pedaliera in contro tempo). Verso la meta' del disco troviamo un'altra perla "Hard As Iron"; direttissima, violenta, di una coincisione disarmante, dai ritmi sincopati direi, un capolavoro di pezzo: UNA LEZIONE DI HEAVY METAL!!
Per guanto riguarda i due brani: "Come And Get It & I'm A Rocker", sono due ottimi esempi di Hard Rock estremo quasi al limite dell'Heavy, impeccabili le prestazioni dei componenti del gruppo anche qui; (in quest'album ritroviamo anche il famosissimo pezzo Rock N' Roll "Jhonny B. Good" di C. Berry in chiave Heavy Metal). La "Ballads" dell'album è identificabile nel pezzo "Blood Red Sky" in questa traccia R. Halford dara'il meglio di se, dai ritmi abbastanza cupi e con qualche accenno che fa proiettare l'ascoltatore in un prossimo futuro "Post Atomico", questo pezzo resta uno dei migliori dell'intero album e della carriera stessa dei Priest. "Love You To death" forse èuna delle track list piu' trasgressive che la band abbia mai fatto (stando ai testi) ma non troppo esaltante nel suo complesso.
L'album si chiude con un'autoglorificazione (piu'che giusta) CHE RISPONDE AL NOME DI "MONSTER OF ROCK"; insomma questo è l'Heavy Metal. Questo non è solo un cd musicale, ma anche un'esempio ed una lezione, per tutti coloro che un giorno, decideranno di cimentarsi nel genere musicale in questione; una stella che brillera' di luce propria per molto tempo ancora.

Riffs d’acciaio e assoli inarrivabili! Ecco cosa contiene (tra gli altri elementi) un disco dei Priest.
Un album dove ci sono tutti gli ingredienti del classico metal e dei Judas Priest, che sfoderano tutte le loro armi migliori.
