Dovevo vedere i Katatonia sul palco per ben due volte ma, come ben saprete,la sfiga colpisce ciecamente. Proprio come la fortuna.
Siccome non c'è due senza tre, mi sono premonito e ho acquistato un loro live.
"Live Consternation" è un'opera di ottima fattura che ci presenta il malinconico gruppo svedese guidato dal corpulento frontman Jonas Renkse in ottima forma.
Le canzoni contenute in questo album risalgono a quella che potremmo definire come fase "depressive rock" dei Katatonia. Vengono , per l'appunto, riproposti i classici di dischi quali "Discouraged Ones", "Viva Emptiness" e "The Great Cold Distance".
E' un piacere uditivo-emozionale ascoltare le versioni live di schegge gotiche che rispondono ai nomi di "Evidence", "Criminals", "Ghost of The Sun" e la superba "Cold Ways" (a parere di chi scrive uno dei migliori pezzi mai scritti dai nostri). Ottima la registrazione, suoni cristallini e riff di chitarra che falciano come rasoi ma che, al contempo, sanno essere tristi e introspettivi.
Questi sono i Katatonia versione live. Prendere o lasciare.
Il disco è stato registrato nel 2006 al Summer Breeze Open Air Festival.
PS: nella versione in mio possesso c'è anche un gustoso DVD.
