Dopo il deludente "See You On The Other Side" (album dove hanno cercato di sperimentare suoni nuovi stravolgendo il loro sound, creando un miscuglio tra Marylin Manson e N.I.N. ma purtroppo con risultato finale davvero deplorevole), ecco che ritornano i Korn con uno strano live tutto acustico.
Vi chiederete voi che cacchio centrano i Korn con un live acustico, visto le loro accordature bassissime e tutti gli arrangiamenti elettronici. Ero piuttosto perplesso sulla qualità di questo live ma ero abbastanza curioso di scoprire come erano diventati i brani vecchi e nuovi dei Korn in questa nuova veste. Già dall'ascolto di "Blind" si inizia a capire che non si tratta del solito Unplugged, la versione originale della suddetta viene stravolta con un sound quasi latino-americano. Gli arrangiamenti sono qualcosa di incredibile e sono il punto forte di questo live album, vengono usati strumenti che mai prima d'ora si erano visti in un Unplugged (per esempio le percussioni di taiko usate per la conclusiva "Throw Me Away") che hanno reso un'atmosfera cupa e sognante allo stesso tempo, perfetta per una band come i Korn.
Spettacolari le versioni dei due brani estratti da "Follow The Leader" , cioè "Freak On A Leash" e "Got The Life". La prima (che avrete un po' ascoltato tutti vista la heavy rotation sui vari canali musicali) è cantata da Jonathan Davis e da Amy Lee cantante degli Evanescence. In questa song le stupende voci di entrambi si fanno un tutt'uno con gli arrangiamenti creando un'atmosfera eterea. Mi hanno colpito molto soprattutto le versioni dei brani estratti dall'ultimo album: "Love Song", "Twisted Transistor" e "Throw Me Away". Ascoltate in questa nuova veste mi hanno lasciato di stucco, quasi non le riconoscevo. Menzione a parte merita il duetto con Robert Smith "In Between Days / Make Me Bad", dove la bellissima canzone dei Cure si fa un tutt'uno con "Make Me Bad". Ascoltare Jonathan Davis e Robert Smith insieme che dire, è qualcosa di incredibile, entrambi sono due delle voci più belle della storia del Rock.
In conclusione possiamo dire che insieme a quello dei Nirvana e degli Alice In Chains, ci troviamo di fronte ad uno dei migliori Unplugged di sempre e che i Korn dopo un album fallimentare sono tornati a regalarci emozioni e almeno da parte mia, per adesso, sono perdonati.

Jhonatan Davis non è più il ragazzo di Bakersfield incazzato con tutti, e la sua voce dolce e posata delizia l’udito.
Il fattore più importante è la quasi completa riscrittura delle musiche, con veri e propri cambi di accordi e riff.

Far suonare ai Korn un concerto Unplugged è come mettere la nutella su un bel piatto di maccheroni: non c'entra un cazzo!
Questo disco è orrendo e un insulto a tutti i fan (e sono milioni sparsi nel mondo) del gruppo.
