 Anche questo gruppo ha fallito miseramente la 'prova della verità'.

 Questo lavoro passerà quasi inosservato, frutto anche dell'errore di aver aspettato così tanto dall'uscita del precedente.

La recensione analizza 'Peasants, Pigs & Astronauts', il secondo album dei Kula Shaker dopo il debutto di grande successo del 1996. Nonostante qualche buon pezzo iniziale e suggestioni orientali, il disco soffre di carenze strutturali e mancanza di spontaneità. L'autore critica l'eccesso negli arrangiamenti e il tentativo fallimentare di imitare grandi artisti del passato. Il lavoro viene definito deludente e incapace di replicare il successo del primo album, segnando la fase discendente della band. Scopri perché il secondo album dei Kula Shaker non ha convinto i fan!

Esattamente quello che ci si poteva aspettare dai Kula Shaker dopo "K" e anche per questo sottovalutato fin dalla sua uscita, quando invece ha la stessa ispirazione dell'esordio nel suo miscelare pop rock psichedelico e sonorità indiane.

    k mai ascoltato. ricordo benissimo le tiepide recensioni che accolsero questo. tra l'altro lo comprai nel '98 ma non mi disse granchè. dev'essere nella casa d'un mio amico. chissà, forse oggi cambierei opinione. del loro dopo non so nulla

    psycho non vorrei sbagliarmi ma credo sia uscito nel 99 (me lo ricordo perchè uscì praticamente lo stesso giorno di "13" dei Blur, avevo i soldi solo per uno e ovviamente comprai i Blur, questo lo presi successivamente), "K" se questo proprio non ti è piaciuto non so se potrebbe piacerti, le coordinate e le sonorità sono quelle ("K" sta un gradino sopra comunque, pur essendo questo anche per me un ottimo disco come scrivevo, magari un ascolto daglielo che comunque merita). Dopo (strangefolk e pilgrims progress) hanno cambiato parecchio, meno sonorità indiane, più folk-rock psichedelico, assolutamente sempre buoni/ottimi dischi comunque

    sicuramente hai ragione tu. ho ricordi fumosi perchè proprio nel '99 iniziarono i miei problemi. anche se ero convinto che 13 fosse uscito aprile maggio e i kula verso ottobre, per questo pensavo al '98. quell'anno uscì pure un disco di un gruppo che sparì subito, i cosiddetti fuerslide... non so se ricordi, tra l'altro non li comprai nemmeno. credo che uscì anche ideal crash dei deus

    no psycho,i fuerslide proprio non li ricordo, su 13 anch'io mi ricordo più o meno quel periodo, forse più marzo, però boh, mi ricordavo che fossero usciti anche i kula shaker (in tv facevano ancora le classifiche settimanali dei dischi più venduti con i relativi video, e mi sembra di ricordare che c'era sia 13 col video tender sia peasants pigs and austronauts con mystical machine gun :D come new entries :D)

    sottovalutati da molti perché associati al brit-pop, secondo me. Certo che erano pop, ma accostarli a fenomeni effimeri (quando non scarsi) di certa Inghilterra-anni '90 non ci sta proprio. Poi provate a recuperarvi il testo originale (l'originale, non l'adattamento) di 'Namàmi Nànda-Nàndana' e a quel punto vi rendete conto che Crispian Mills ha un Genio e una passione come pochi. Ascoltato a ripetizione, l'ultima volta è stata (guarda caso) non più di tre giorni fa...

Non è assolutamente un brutto disco, è solo penalizzato nel confronto col predecessore. Ma se uno non aveva APPREZZATO "K", è innaturale che apprezzi questo. Almeno 7/8 pezzi sono d'eccellenza.
