Nelle recensioni vengono citati come antesignani del fenomeno britpop e noti per il ruolo del frontman Brett Anderson e per la separazione tra il periodo con Bernard Butler e quello successivo con Richard Oakes. Dopo lo scioglimento del 2003, la band è tornata con una fase post-reunion molto recensita e valutata positivamente.
