Gruppo inglese formato a Londra nel 1981 da Mark Hollis con Paul Webb, Lee Harris e Simon Brenner (poi affiancati in studio da Tim Friese‑Greene). Dalle hit synth‑pop degli esordi (“It’s My Life”, “Such a Shame”) approdano alla svolta artistica di “The Colour of Spring” e ai capolavori sperimentali “Spirit of Eden” (1988) e “Laughing Stock” (1991). L’attività del gruppo termina nel 1991; Mark Hollis pubblica un album solista nel 1998 e muore nel 2019.
