"Human" è il quinto album della band canadese Three Days Grace uscito il 31 Marzo 2015 per RCA. Per meglio specificare, si il quinto album, ma il primo uscito dopo l'abbandono da parte dello storico frontman Adam Gontier a fine 2012. Quindi abbiamo già fatto una premessa grandissima: la metà (o forse l'80 %) dei fans di questa band lo era grazie alle doti vocali dell'ottimo Adam Gontier e dopo il suo abbandono (peraltro in maniera veramente da codardo) era scontato aspettarsi un completo inizio di disinteresse da parte di moltissimi fans. E così è stato in effetti, però c'è anche da dare merito agli altri membri dei 3DG di non essersi fermati e di aver rispettato tutti gli impegni che si erano presi sostituendo Adam con Matt Walst, già cantante/chitarrista dei My Darkest Days. Quello che doveva essere un sostituito provvisorio poi si è rivelato essere il nuovo frontman per la band canadese e dopo un anno di reclusione eccoli uscire con un nuovo album e solo per questo mi sento di dare loro un grosso merito perché appunto non si sono arresi nonostante l'abbandono del loro "accalappiafans". Detto questo però l'album in sé non è nulla di speciale, anzi risulta essere abbastanza noioso sulla distanza. Si possono però trovare due vie per ascoltare/valutare questo album ma che alla fine portano alla stessa risposta: la prima è facendo il paragone tra i 3DG con Adam e questi "nuovi" (la via sbagliata a mio avviso) dove possiamo dire che nettamente Adam era il cuore pulsante di questa band ma nonostante tutto Matt Walst se la cava e anche abbastanza bene. La voce di Matt assomiglia a quella di Adam ma lo è tale solo per due secondi, quel tanto che basta per ricordarti che si stai ascoltando i Three Days Grace ma che il cantante è un altro. Percorrendo questa via si rischia semplicemente di fare un confronto, canzone per canzone, tra i due cantanti senza concentrarsi sul resto. La seconda via è quella di ascoltarlo senza pre-concetti. Ne esce un album né grezzo né stracolmo di effetti. Si parte bene con 'Human Race', il pezzo migliore del disco, per poi pian piano perdersi. Ci sono alcuni pezzi degni di nota come 'Painkiller' (già in rotazione da un anno), l'ottima strofa e l'atmosfera di 'Fallen Angel' fino all'ultimo singolo 'I Am Machine', il vero punto di rottura del disco. Da qui in poi il nulla, e sono ancora sei brani. Tutti e sei pezzi che sanno da "tutto fa brodo" con una piccola eccezione per 'Car Crash' che però è facilmente dimenticabile. Insomma, sei brani da Three Days Grace (dignitosi, niente di più) e altri sei che non sono nulla di speciale. Se volete ascoltare questo disco per sentire che fine ha fatto questo gruppo potete limitarvi alle prime sei canzoni a mio avviso. Resta il fatto che ci hanno provato e hanno avuto coraggio quindi un voto in più per questo se lo meritano. Questo non significa che non hanno più senso di esistere come band, anzi, semplicemente che dal prossimo album, da parte mia, non avranno più "il merito di averci provato" ma dovranno dimostrare di più.

Troppi gruppi ci “cingannano” con una prima traccia potente e convincente, che non trova seguito alcuno nel resto dell’album.
Il primo singolo non si dimostra alla lunga essere uno specchietto per le allodole ma un frammento di un’opera talentuosa.

Un ottimo cd d'esordio per i Three Days Grace che hanno dimostrato di saper suonare bene e fare un cd di grande qualità che non è poco di questi tempi.
Lo consiglio anche a chi non è amante del genere e generalmente ascolta altro come il sottoscritto.
