Quando nel 1998 le radio trasmettevano "Sleeping In Your Hand", primo singolo in assoluto dello scricciolo di Monfalcone, gli addetti ai lavori erano sicuri che Elisa avrebbe sfondato.
In effetti così è stato. In quasi dieci anni di carriera la piccola cantante ha sfornato ben cinque lavori, non tutti eccelsi (è il caso di Asile's World, un album elettronico, in cui il suono artificiale finisce per nascondere la vera anima delle canzoni), incentrati sul proprio mondo e sulle proprie emozioni.
Se già Lotus, album prettamente acustico, ha sancito la fama e la grande bravura della cantante, questo Pearl Days è una grande conferma, grazie anche al producer Glen Ballard, che in passato ha curato la produzione di grandi artiste, come Alanis Morrissette, No Doubt e Anastacia.
Il disco, che risulta essere l'unico album di chiara ispirazione rock della cantante, racconta dieci storie, dieci emozionanti vicende, aventi come filo conduttore la vita e le esperienze di Elisa, che ama raccontarsi attraverso la musica.
L'album insomma risulta composto di vere perle musicali, come "Together", il primo singolo lanciato, il quale, con il suo ritornello trascinante, diventa un chiaro messaggio d'allerta per il popolo americano, il quale dovrebbe tutelarsi dal potente prevaricatore Bush. In "Bitter Words" Elisa mostra la propria fragilità dinanzi parole amare, che le falciano il cuore; "Pearl Days" è un vero e proprio inno alla vita, nonostante la difficile situazione internazionale; in "Joy" la cantante dice: "I can shine like the sun, if you'll be the only one, waterfall where my light will shine on, pure joy, a shower of pure joy".
Indimenticabili sono anche: "Written In Your Eyes", "I Know", "The Waves" e la bellissima "Life Goes On" che narra un pezzo di storia della cantante. La canzone racconta infatti le vicende della nonna di Elisa che, rimasta incinta del marito deportato in un campo di concentramento, è ricolma di speranza ed ottimismo.
Ancora una volta la piccola cantante di Monfalcone è riuscita ad incantare ed ipnotizzare, mediante la voce suadente, testi poetici scritti con il cuore e la sua grande, anzi grandissima interpretazione che l'avvicina all'Olimpo delle star internazionali.

Elisa è Elisa, ha acquistato una maturità ed identità artistica tale da non permettermi più di paragonarla alla Morissette o a Björk.
Ascoltatela da soli nel buio della vostra stanza e al ritornello una lacrima scenderà di sicuro.
