In questo disco si distingue tutta la tecnica che caraterizza i Judas. In "Painkiller" sono presenti assolo strepitosi e riff veloci. L'album si apre proprio con title track "Painkiller" dove spicca subito la straordinaria voce di Rob Halford. Il pezzo si apre con un intro del batterista, che ci mostra tutta la sua classe. Segue poi un riff a dir poco eccezionale e un assolo da far paura. Il secondo brano "Hell'S Patrol" è il mio preferito e secondo me è un capolavoro. Dal terzo al quinto brano sono presenti dei riff molto veloci che trascinano l'ascoltatore: "All Guns Blazing", "Leather Rebel" e "Metal Meltdown". Quest'ultimo si apre con un assolo straordinario.
Il sesto pezzo "Nightcrawler" si apre con una serie di arpeggi e il suo ritmo è cupo e veramente trascinante. La settima "Betwenn The Hammer & The Anvil" ha un assolo che più caraterizza lo stile marcato Judas Priest. Viene eseguito molto velocemente ed è assolutamente fantastico. Nell'ottava traccia "A Touch Of Evil" è presenta la campana come in "Black Sabbath" e in "For Whom The Bells Tolls" cioè due pezzi dei maggiori esponenti del genere che tanto amiamo. Il primo è un brano capolavoro dei Black Sabbath, dai quali hanno preso spunto molte band Metal. Invece il brano dei Metallica tratto da "Ride The Lightning" ha uno dei più famosi riff metal. La Nove è l'inno di battaglia dei Judas Priest. La traccia infatti si chiama proprio "Battle Hymn" ed è un brano puramente strumentale. L'ultima traccia "One Shot Of Glory" è una degna chiusura di un grande album come "Painkiller". Credo infatti che questa band se lo meriti uno sparo di gloria, non solo per la sua tecnica, ma anche per la sua carriera. Infatti i Judas hanno pubblicato il primo disco nel 1974: fate un po' voi.

Probabilmente il più espressivo ed importante capolavoro dei tanti capolavori del gruppo di Birmingham.
Un cd contenente solamente gemme di purissimo Classic Metal, suonate sublimemente da quelli che sono, probabilmente, i migliori musicisti/compositori che il Classic abbia mai avuto.
