Se SGT PEPPER è il lato pessimo degli Abbey Road Studios, questo disco è senz'altro l'altra faccia della medaglia (infatti fu registrato contemporaneamente nello stesso studio).
A MIO GIUDIZIO "IL DISCO" .
Il modo in cui si abbracciano le paranoie di Barret, con le ambientazioni da favola, il tutto condito da un tocco di ovatta che avvolge il tutto, confeziona uno dei dischi piu perfetti che orecchio umano possa ascoltare.
Il disco inizia con un viaggio spaziale, a metà strada tra la fantascienza e la fiaba. Cosi come fiabesca risulta LUCIFER SAM, canzone ispirata al gattaccio di Syd.. si dice che contenga riferimenti al satanismo, ma il quipresente onestamente non ne ha mai captati, e anche cercando per la rete non si trova nulla di concreto se non dicerie vaghissime..
Per tutti quelli che pensano di poter capire cosa è LSD ascoltando LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMOND dei beatles.. consiglierei l'ascolto invece di "Flaming" pezzo che fa realmente viaggiare l'ascoltatore su altri pianeti grazie alle liriche che poco lasciano all'immaginazione e al musica non fa che da amplificatore a questo stato.
I pezzi forse piu azzardati (che quindi possono far storcere qualche naso) sono sicurametne

Toch H. e "Interstellar Overdrive".. brani in cui la psichedelia la fa da padrona, il secondo indubbiamente supera il primo, brani realmente in grado di portare la tua mente fuori dal tuo corpo! (sconsiglio vivamente di ascoltare questo disco mentre guidate se non volete rischiare di fare incidenti a causa della catarsi eheheh)
Con la moda de IL SIGNORE DEGLI ANELLI che ormai ha rapito tutti i ragazzini di oggi, un pezzo come "The Gnome" andrebbe sicuramente rispolverato: una ballata d'altri tempi in cui la fiaba citata inizialmente riprende possesso del disco e racconta la vita di GRIMBLE GROMBLE nel suo vivace villaggio.
Il disco scorre poi su questo passo arrivando infine a BIKE, che conclude questo meraviglioso viaggio nei meandri della mente fulminata di syd barret, con una sorta di Riepilogo.. il pezzo risulta infatti il piu completo del disco, inquanto è forse l'unico ad accorpare tutte le tematiche raccontate.
insomma questo è IL DISCO.. ingiustamente sottovalutato, è sicuramente l'opera maxima dei Pink Floyd!

Stiamo parlando dei britannici Pink Floyd... ebbene sì, già dal primo disco si capisce quello che avrebbero fatto in futuro.
Disco eccellente, che si discosta un po' dal sound tipico dei Pink Floyd ma che è ugualmente un colosso della storia della musica.

I primi pink floyd sono riusciti a sintetizzare in una visione unica e inimitabile gli impulsi provenienti dall'acid rock westcoastiano, l'interesse per le forme musicali libere e improvvisate e l'amore per il fiabesco più autenticamente inglese.
Al genere proposto non ho saputo dirvi quale, perché i pink non hanno uno stile a sé.. Ma sono un misto di più generi... Forse è questo che li rende così grandi...
