Iowa è senza dubbio uno degli album piu' violenti degli ultimi cinque anni. Quantomeno del panorama nu-metal (di cui io sono un grande fan).
Si inizia con 515, l'intro dell'album,e già da qua si potrà capire cosa ci aspetta. Si inizia poi con People=Shit...forse la canzone più distruttiva dell'album (non che le altre siano più tranquille...).seguono poi Disasterpiece, My Plague, Everything Ends e The Heretic Anthem... Un pugno diretto alla pancia di chi crede che il metal sia soltanto una sorta di satanismo. Ci sono altre canzoni degne di nota, tra cui Left Behind e I Am Hated. Da segnalare due canzoni presenti nell'album degli Slipknot datato 1996, Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat, ovvero Gently e Killers Are Quiet (che,in Iowa,ha il titolo omonimo).
A me di Iowa apprezzo soprattutto il cantante Corey Taylor, il quale, a mio avviso, si esprime alla grande in ogni canzone, passando a ritmi durissimi(People=Shit,The Heretic Anthem) ad una voce più calma,meno arrabbiata (l'inizo di Everything Ends). E come non dar merito anche agli altri membri degli Slipknot, soprattutto il batterista Joey Jordison (il suo riff con la batteria all'inizio di People=Shit è da applausi e basta).
Giungendo alle conclusioni, Iowa, prodotto da Ross Robinson e mixato da Andy Wallace (l'accoppiata perfetta, praticamente), è un album meraviglioso, stupendo. Da avere per forza
