Uncle Tupelo sono stati un gruppo alternative country statunitense di Belleville (Illinois), guidato da Jay Farrar e Jeff Tweedy con Mike Heidorn alla batteria. Attivi tra il 1987 e il 1994, sono accreditati per aver ridefinito il rapporto tra tradizione roots e attitudine punk. Dopo lo scioglimento, Farrar ha fondato i Son Volt e Tweedy i Wilco.
