Non amo molto fare classifiche quando di tratta dei miei gruppi preferiti o delle band che hanno lasciato il segno dentro di me. Però se qualcuno mi chiedesse di suggerirgli uno dei migliori album che ho mai ascoltato, sicuramente "The Sound Of Perseverance" lo annovererei nella mia top 5. Tra l'altro personalmente, ritengo che appartenga anche alla top 5 dei migliori album metal mai pubblicati.
Userò quattro parole per definirlo brevemente: UNICO nel suo genere! Cercherò di trattenere l'entusiasmo ed essere conciso in quello che dirò, anche se, ricordandomi delle emozioni che questo disco mi ha dato, mi riesce molto difficile, tralascerò i ricordi e farò veramente riposare in pace il compianto Chuck Shuldiner, descrivendo solo il disco, che comunque sappiamo essere stato concepito e scritto da uno dei migliori musicisti metal di sempre.
Il disco si ascolta tutto d'un fiato, bello, scorrevole, inventivo e geniale, pesante, duro ed energico come solo questo genere sa essere, una spruzzata di progressività, e la tecnica indiscussa della band unita ai testi psico-filosofici (a volte criptici) di Chuck, fanno di questo un album fuori dal comune. Per chi non lo avesse mai ascoltato ma conosce il death metal, non si aspetti il solito disco sfrenato con cui pogare, ma molto di più, soprattutto come profondità musicale, e a voler essere precisi è anche un po' riduttivo definirlo solo death metal.
"Scavenger Of Human Sorrow", "The Flesh And The Power It Holds", e tutte le altre canzoni dell'album (inutile fare l'elenco) brillano ognuna di luce propria. Ognuna sa ispirarti forza, potenza, creatività e anche fascino emotivo, come nel caso dell'acustica "Voice Of The Soul". E come se non bastasse, una (ennesima) cover di "Painkiller" dei Judas Priest, rifatta davvero in modo impeccabile.
Musicalmente superbo e magistrale, c'è molto da imparare da un album come questo, se siete anche musicisti. Infine, bello anche il cover desing del disco. Insomma, un disco dedicato agli amanti della grande musica. Posso dargli 6 come voto?! No! Peccato! Assolutamente imperdibile, ogni metallaro che ama definirsi tale deve avere questo disco.

Un grandissimo capolavoro death-metal.
La speranza di tutti è quella che da ‘lassù’ il grande Chuck continui a suonare la sua chitarra e continui a cantare death-metal, come solo lui sapeva fare.
Di sweep picking
Questo album è pieno di capolavori, cominciando subito con 'Scavenger' che ci fa capire che è un master-piece.
Il modo di cantare di Chuck è perfetto per il tipo di brani proposti, regalando emozioni uniche.

L'apice si chiama proprio questo 'sound of perseverance' ed anche l'ultimo primo della morte di Chuck Schuldiner (rip).
Questo capolavoro è terminato e così si ferma la carriera dei Death... ci auguriamo che Chuck continui a suonare la sua chitarra dal paradiso.

The Sound Of Perseverance è il miglior album della storia del metal.
Voice Of The Soul è un gioiello strumentale che nessuno, nemmeno il più estremo degli ascoltatori di dance, troverà brutto o inascoltabile.

Hai presente quella sensazione di trovarsi davanti a un colosso che ti toglie il fiato? Ecco, così ho provato ascoltando l'ultimo capitolo dei Death.
Ogni singolo brano riesce a trasudare sentimenti da ogni nota e soprattutto dalla voce di Chuck, un vero monumento dell’heavy metal.
