Deerhoof -The Magic
One of the most considered indie-pop band, Deerhoof are back with a new album ('The Magic') recorded in seven days in an abandoned office in a New Mexico desert. A kaleidoscopic album in which the band metls together influences from different genres and with an approach that has connection in kraut-rock and some episodes of post-rock music. An album of what you could in the end easily define pop music with components of indie-rock, electronic music and trip-hop that made the band proxime to another reality of indipendent music as Cibo Matto and a derivate because of the freaky rhythmic section by a band like Can. In the end, a good album, but nothing seems remain to me after so many listenings. di più
Lars Ulrich

Woody Allen -Midnight In Paris
A movie that on one hand would like to be an invitation to not leave your dreams and to try to realise them now, in the present, and on the other one would pretend to be an homage to a special era. Paris during the 1920s was a point of reference and a place where many artists created an expecial moment in culture that it is still nowaday relevant in figural arts and literature. Gil Pender (Owen Wilson), that is really fashinated by this world and wants to become a writer, started traveling back in time where he met all his idols (Hemingway and Dali, Bunuel and Scott Fitzgerald...) A travel across the time that helps him to figure out about his life. A low fantasy romantic comedy in a style that Woody Allen it is applying to his recent movies generallly appreciated by critics and the public, but that, to tell the truth, it is redundant and never so deep as it pretended to be. di più

King Crimson

Jordan Rakei -Cloak
The debut album of this young producer, singer and songwriter from Brisbane, Australia, 'Cloak' it is one of the best episode of the 2016 into rhytm and blues and soul music. Mixed with elements of acid jazz, 'Talk To Me' could actually sound the way Marvin Gaye would sound if he was still alive, and dubstep, 'Lost Myself' it's a song that probably could make look pale with envy Thom Yorke or James Blake, surfing track by track you could levitate up because getting into another state of gravity. Less a kiss ass than Jamiroquai were for the nineties era, but not less catchy because good into writing good melodies, this guy seems to be a very talented one because he suits together pop tones with a kaleidoscopic and freaky and meditative taste at the same that make this album a little jewel into your collection. Give a listen to and more, because one it's not going to be enough. di più

Ulysses -010
A side-project of Robert Schneider (lead vocalist of The Apples in Stereo), Ulysses released one album ('010') in 2004. The project was conceived by Schneider while he was touring Spain with Apples in Stereo. Out via Eenie Meerie, the songs contained in the album were initially going to be demos, but later the band was so satisfied of the performance that decided to use them for the final release. This and the particular use of the monoraul audio gave to the album a more lo-fi attitude that mixed with the typical fury of the Pavement of 'Slanted and Enchanted' and the sensitive taste of the bands part of the roster of the Elephant 6 Rec., made this a unique episode and one of the best events in power-pop music of the last decade. Unavoidable. di più
