Il dirigibile era già esploso da un anno, ma?
La definizione del genere chiamato Hard-Rock è contenuto in soli 41 minuti incisi in un album che è diventato una leggenda, così come il gruppo che l'ha eseguito.
Un anno dopo la pubblicazione del primo album che porta il loro nome, il gruppo guidato da Jimmy Page e Robert Plant, si vuole confermare come il principale esponente del genere neonato con 'Led Zeppelin II', dando alle stampe un capolavoro assoluto. Riff di chitarra azzeccati, mix di rock e blues perfetto, musicisti eccezionali e la voce del sempreverde Robert Plant calda e sensuale come non mai.
Anche prima di mettere il cd nel vostro lettore si può capire dalla copertina che questo è un'opera sopra il livello medio, dove troviamo la foto della Jasta Division tedesca della prima guerra mondiale(la stessa che usò il dirigibile Zeppelin), modificata includendo i quattro membri della band inglese.
Nove pezzi compongono l'Lp, e la prima è una delle canzoni più famose di sempre, ovvero 'Whole Lotta Love', grazie al suo riff duro che ripercorre quasi in tutto il pezzo, interrotto nell?ultima parte dalla parte vocale del grandissimo cantante. Un classico. Questo pezzo diventerà il manifesto del gruppo, e le sonorità mostrate all?inizio si riproporranno nelle successive 'The Lemon Song', 'Heartbreaker', Living Loving Maid(She's Just A Woman)'. Simile struttura ma di grandissima qualità.
?What Is And What Should Never Be? è delicata e aggressiva nello stesso momento, grazie alle aggressive accelerazioni di chitarra e batteria nel ritornello, che lasciano spazio poi a delle carezze sonore nelle strofe. 'Thank You' il gruppo ci regala un lento acustico romanticissimo, molto lontano dalle atmosfere più eccitanti degli altri pezzi, ma capace lo stesso di arricchire un album così carico di musica. Inizialmente questo pezzo doveva essere composto dal solo Plant, ma Page non credeva ancora nelle capacità compositive della voce del gruppo. Ma appena due anni dopo si dovette ricredere, perché il cantante scrisse da solo un pezzo definito il più bello in assoluto della storia della musica(per chi non l?avesse ancora capito il pezzo in questione è 'Starway To Heaven'). "Ramble On' è forse l'unico pezzo non degno delle altre otto tracce, ma rimane comunque buono. Invece 'Moby Dick' è il famosissimo pezzo suonato dal compianto John 'Bonzo' Bonham alle percussioni, in cui anche lui ha la possibilità di mettersi in primo piano e mostrarsi un eccellente percussionista anche nei live del gruppo, arrivando a suonare anche mezz'ora in un'improvvisazione unica ed inimitabile.
Chiude 'Bring It On Home' in bellezza, mescolando sonorità tipicamente blues nella prima parte, mischiate poi al rock nella seconda, diventando così un altro classico per il gruppo. Da qui in poi la musica non sarà mai stata come prima. Bisogna sentire per capire cosa succederà dopo.
Sopravviverà per sempre.

Questo disco sancisce l'inizio dell'hard rock, e sicuramente questo disco sarà il più hard rock della carriera dei Led Zeppelin.
Un classico. E scusate se è poco.

Led Zeppelin II avrebbe contenuto l'inno simbolo della generazione hippie: 'Whole Lotta Love'.
Questo CD, come prodotto discografico, merita 5 perché ha saputo riconfermare lo stratosferico successo del primo CD.
