Questi non sono più gli Oasis che distruggevano alberghi e gettavano i letti nei parcheggi! Ormai i Gallagher hanno 30 anni e non vogliono più farsi chiamare "fratelli rissa"! Convinti che "Be Here Now" sia stato pietoso (lo dicono solo loro) mandano via i due membri che facevano di loro una band di scazzati e reclutano due elementi (più abili) che gli danno la certezzza di essere maturati. Beh...è vero, ma il risultato fa pensare a una maturazione troppo accelerata!
C'è l'elettronica, i ritmi sono prevalentemente lenti, ci sono gli echi psichedelici dei Pink Floyd oltre a quelli ormai sputtanati dei Beatles! Si parte con il r ‘n r di "Fuckin In The Bushes" che è l'unica parolaccia in questo cd e per questo gli fa guadagnare quell'orrenda pecetta del "parental advisory"; la traccia è strumentale, ideale per aprire i live. "Go Let It Out”, primo singolo, è un'ottima ballata brit pop con la solita voce arrogante di Liam Gallagher e basso suonato alla McCartney. "Who Feels Love?" fa l'occhiolino alla melodia indiana di "Love You To" (Beatles) e utilizza la tecnica dei nastri riprodotti al contrario (Beatles).
“Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is" è uno spudorato e pietoso plagio di "Roadhouse Blues" dei Doors! "Little James" è scritta da Liam che (manco a dirlo) prende spunto dai Beatles e sforna una melodia dolce ma con testo dalle rime improponibili ("have you ever play with plasticine, even tried a trampoline"). "Gas Panic!" è il vero capolavoro del cd; rock psichedelico che cattura per tutti e 6.30 minuti di durata, e testo che parla di come si vivono le crisi d'astinenza. Si chiude con "Roll It Over", una stupenda ballad che fonde Beatles e Pink Floyd e che conferma la maturità raggiunta dagli Oasis. Dopo i 45 minuti di durata del cd non si è molto soddisfatti ma neanche disgustati, in fondo il cd è mediocre. Però ascoltando "I Can See A Liar", l'unico brano veramente rock, torna la malinconia per i vecchi Oasis e si pensa: "perchè vi stiete stancati di distruggere gli alberghi?"

Ogni band ha il diritto di provare ad evolversi e a non fossilizzarsi troppo su un unico genere.
Questo non è assolutamente un cd memorabile, ma resta comunque interessante per i fan.

La Sensazione che ho avuto quando ho ascoltato per la prima volta questo album è stata quella di esser sospeso nel vuoto, accompagnato dal suono della chitarra che mi dava una certa sensazione di malinconia.
Gli Oasis hanno raggiunto l'apice del loro rock... 'Go Let It Out' e 'Roll It Over' sono davvero delle belle canzoni per non parlare poi del capolavoro 'Gas Panic'!

Gas Panic! probabilmente la migliore canzone del disco, maledettamente psichedelica.

Una patina psichedelica che rende le composizioni meno immediate ma ugualmente ben fruibili dopo non molti ascolti.
