Tra tutti i capolavori registrati dai beatles mi sento di iniziare a recensire qui tra di voi, l'album peggio riuscito dei Fab Four: "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band", ottavo album dei Beatles in cinque anni.
Non è mistero che i quattro facessero uso di acidi e affini, e con questo album danno la prova dei danni che la droga causa al cervello, danni molto simili a quelli che una buona lobotomia puo causare.
Probabilmente è proprio rendendosi conto dell'enorme montagna di sterco che hanno scritto che i nostri 4 si camuffano annunciandosi all'inizio del disco come la Sgt. Pepper's Club Band (probabilmente fuorno i discografici che non volevano infangare il buon nome dei Beatles)
Addirittura la registrazione presenta delle pecche, si noti infatti che tra la prima traccia e la seconda (With A Little Help From My Friends) non esiste uno stacco, come se fosse un lavoretto registrato in sala prove tanto x passare un pomeriggio in acida allegria..
Proseguiamo oltre fino allla tremenda "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds": ora, che volessero fare un inno all'LSD era chiaro, ma almeno fallo come si deve! Il basso orrendamente fuoritempo suonato da un bassista che ormai pensa piu alle sottane che alle note viene quasi coperto dal testo tanto demenziale quanto vuoto. Ed a proposito di mancanza di contenuti, come non citare lo scempio di Lennon con "Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!", già partendo dal punto esclamativo nel titolo.. cosa mi rappresenta?!?!? Perchè?? Qui però compensiamo i vaneggiamenti lessicali, con un accozzaglia di rumori che fanno passare per musica (totalmente slegata e fuori da ogni schema logico).
Dio ci salvi! Finalmente arriva qualcosa di decente: ci mette una pezza il buon George Harrison con "Within You Without You", unica vera bandiera del disco in cui cultura orientale e cultura occidentale si fondono in un mix sublime. Questa piacevole sensazione viene bruscamente interrottà però da "When I'm Sixty-Four", probabilmente lo stile honky tonk è una palese dedica al bordello stile saloon dove Lennon fu concepito.
Così come Lennoniana è "Good Morning, Good Morning" brano che pare uscito da una pubblicità di una rete locale alle 6 del mattino (quando sono appena finite le pubblicità dell 899 e ancora non sanno che programmi fare iniziare). Accortisi del fatto che oltre ad essere inascoltabile, era pure corto, come penultima canzone piazzano un reprise della prima, cambiando leggermente le parole in modo che i fattoni in ascolto non se ne accorgano.
Come se non fosse bastato tutto il resto, l'agonia termina con "A Day in the Life", in cui il baronetto Paul canta in modo irriverente il suo amore per un deputato inglese morto in un incidente poco tempo prima.
A testimonianza dell'incuria dei nostri in questo disco verso la fine della dissolvenza quando il suono si affievolisce, si sente un fruscio di fogli e lo scricchiolio di una sedia, rumori che nessuno si è degnato di tagliare
Insomma i Beatles ne han fatti di capolavori... ma un aborto indegno come questo potevano decisamente risparmiarselo... ed ancora oggi non mi capacito di come certa gente si azzardi a definirlo un disco, addirittura Meraviglioso, non accorgendosi di avere tra le mani il vomito malaticcio di quattro deliranti drogati.

Il pezzo più bello dell’album è in chiusura: A Day In The Life è forse una delle canzoni più belle e moderne dei Beatles.
Insomma, un capolavoro irrinunciabile, senza il quale la musica moderna non sarebbe la stessa.

Il Sgt. Pepper’s dovrebbe venire protetto da una custodia inespugnabile per evitare attacchi di qualunque agente deterrente.
Chi ama la musica e dice che il Sgt. Pepper’s è un album ininfluente... ha appena bestemmiato.
