Mi appresto a recensire questo disco che mio padre mi fece ascoltare 8 anni fa facendomi innamorare del Heavy Metal.
I Black Sabbath nascono nel 1967 a Birmingham ed essi non avevano neanche il minimo pensiero del ruolo che avrebbero occupato all'interno della scena mondiale. Nei loro inizi il loro intento era quello di esplorare il blues dei Cream, ma di fatto i riff di Iommi e Butler, accompagnati dal cantato particolare di Ozzy e sostenuti dalla ritmica di Ward diventeranno lo schema fondamentale della musica Heavy.
A parte questa premessa il disco in questione è una derivazione malatissima del blues ed è un debutto col botto; esso è un miscuglio di jam session, di chitarre rallentate e la voce di Ozzy aggiunge un valore inquietante alle atmosfere. "The Wizard" offre un'armonica malata come del resto tutta la proposta di questo cd; lo stile si perfezionerà, ma "Black Sabbath", "N.I.B." e "Sleeping Village" sono già qui che si impostono.
Questo cd è una presentazione dell'apocalisse, un viaggio iniziato in territori fino ad allora inesplorati, che diventeranno fonte di ipirazione per generazioni di musicisti!!!

Un suono lento, pesante e cadenzato non fa paura. Mette ansia, che è qualcosa di peggio.
Black Sabbath si presenta semplice quanto inquietante, parte lenta per poi esplodere in un finale convulso.

La potenza evocativa di tre singole note è stupefacente: la fondamentale doppiata all’ottava e la quinta diminuita, combo nota come "intervallo del diavolo".

Una certa aura maledetta si sprigioni dai solchi dell'opera.
Fa un certo effetto riascoltare un lp edito nel lontano 1970, dotato di un sottile fascino e di una certa importanza storica.
