Iced Earth è una band heavy/power/thrash statunitense fondata dal chitarrista Jon Schaffer (nata come Purgatory e poi rinominata). Si afferma negli anni ’90 con dischi come Burnt Offerings, The Dark Saga e Something Wicked This Way Comes e il live celebrativo Alive in Athens. In seguito pubblica The Glorious Burden con Tim “Ripper” Owens e Dystopia con Stu Block.

Fondati come Purgatory a metà anni ’80 e attivi dalla scena di Tampa; guida artistica di Jon Schaffer; stile che unisce heavy, power e thrash; album di riferimento negli anni ’90 (Burnt Offerings, The Dark Saga, Something Wicked This Way Comes) e live ‘Alive in Athens’; successivamente The Glorious Burden (temi storici) e Dystopia; cantanti principali: Matthew Barlow, Tim “Ripper” Owens, Stu Block.

Nei Duemila arrivano nuovi capitoli e il singer Stu Block, con Dystopia a segnare un ritorno di fiamma.
