Premetto che da fan di vecchia data dei Queen, non ho un album preferito , ma questo ce l'ho nel cuore fin dalla sua uscita ! Il 1995 è stato un anno molto particolare per me e queste canzoni mi hanno accompagnato sino ad oggi caratterizzando gli alti e i bassi della mia vita ! Quindi il mio è un discorso prettamente affettivo, sono di parte ;)
Che dire di questo album…..Un viaggio, dal'inizio alla fine . Un album pieno di gioia e di speranza, eseguito con impeccabile classe da questi 4 musicisti che hanno stravolto la storia della musica per ben 20 anni, confezionando canzoni entrate nella coscienza popolare della gente come nessun altro artista ha mai saputo fare prima d'ora !
Il disco contiene le ultime canzoni registrate da Freddie Mercury, pochi mesi prima della sua prematura scomparsa e brani rivisitati dalla band in chiave moderna. Non il classico album registrato contemporaneamente da tutti e 4 i componenti ( salvo quei pochi momenti nel 1991 dove i Queen registrarono ai Mountain Studios di Montreux le ultime effettive canzoni con Freddie in vita : " Mother Love", "A Winter's Tale", "You Don't Full Me" ) , bensì la costruzione di un puzzle che ha portato i restanti Queen a completare questo lavoro quattro anni dopo quel tragico 24 Novembre 1991 . Vengono rivestiti da zero brani tratti dal repertorio solista di Mercury come " Made In Heaven " e " I Was Born To Love You " aggiungendo quella carica tipica dei Migliori momenti creativi dei Queen . Vengono poi ripescati inedite registrazioni ed Outtakes come " It's A Beautiful Day " e " Let Me Live " e rispolverate quelle B - sides considerate troppo belle per rimanere dei "retro singoli" e parliamo di "My Life Has Been Saved" e " Too Much Love Will Kill You" . Ognuno dei Tre Queen ci ha lavorato per proprio conto, in un periodo che và dal 1993 al 1995, fino a quando tutto il lavoro è stato portato negli studi situati in Svizzera e da lì è cominciato il processo di assemblamento e " taglia e cuci" che ha portato al compimento dell'album forse più bello ed importante della loro intera carriera.

L'ascolto mi ha regalato emozioni magnifiche. Non mi sembrava vero.
In 'Mother Love' si raggiunge il punto più alto, e non nego un brivido sulla schiena ogni volta che l'ascolto.
