Ora basta recensire solo Punk... Ora mi do anche all'Hard'n'Heavy.
I Van Halen, nati nel 1974, sono uno dei gruppi che maggiormente ha cambiato la storia del rock, soprattutto il grandissimo chitarrista Eddie Van Halen, uno dei più grandi chitarristi di tutti i tempi che tolse le scale blues dal rock.
Molta gente si sbaglia di grosso associandoli ai Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Deep Purple e Co... I Van Halen hanno qualcosa di diverso da tutto cio, non si possono paragonare nemmeno agli Iron Maiden o ai Motorhead perché i Van Halen non sono ne Hard Rock ne Heavy Metal, ma lo sono tutti e due insieme.
Il loro primo album fu concepito nel 1978, e fu una svolta per il rock, i più grandi chitarristi si chiedevano come cacchio facesse Eddie a fare delle note cosi lontane fatte a quella velocità (quando Eddie ai concerti eseguiva un assolo in Tapping lo eseguiva di spalle). Questo album è uno dei migliori dei VH, forse paragonabile solo a "Fair Warning".
Le canzoni sono aggressive, più Heavy che Hard, la chitarra è distorta da un Super Overdrive (inventato proprio da Eddie in persona), e spesso il suono è cambiato da un Phase 90, come l'inizio in Pall Muted di "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" o l'intro in corde bloccate di "Atomic Punk", molti assoli vengono eseguiti in Tapping, come "Eruption", e vengono eseguite cover per niente simili alle originali, come "You Really Got Me", originalmente dei Kinks, il tutto scandito dal tempo della batteria di Alex Van Halen, fratello di Eddie e cantato dalla voce provocatoria del grandissimo David Lee Roth.
I testi sono secondo lo schema: sesso (molto), droga (pure, ma in forma più leggera magari...), Rock'n'Roll (qui non serve il testo, ma la musica).
Per concludere, Van Halen è uno degli album che maggiormente ha influito sulla storia del Rock, ed è uno degli albym che consiglio sia agli appassionati di Heavy Metal, sia agli appassionati di Hard Rock... E perché no anche agli appassionati di Punk, vista la loro mentalità... ALLA PROSSIMA!

La straordinaria tecnica chitarristica di Edward Van Halen lo trasformò in un supereroe della chitarra per tutti gli anni 80.

Ardore: è la prima parola che mi viene in mente ascoltando il primo lavoro in studio dei Van Halen.
Il suono della distorsione arriva potente e affilato come un rasoio, ... sembra di essere travolti da un’infinità di stelle cadenti.
