Durante quest'ultimo semestre trascorso ad arricchire il magico database di DeBaser e ad analizzare "sociologicamente" le reazioni dei numerosi colleghi pronti ad intervenire (positivamente o negativamente) sui miei scritti multimediali, ho intuito una generale e unanime simpatia verso la Signora Kylie, a differenza di altri esponenti del mainstream. Addirittura da soggetti che intendono organizzare violente Crociate contro la musica commerciale. Strabiliante. Eppure Miss Minogue rappresenta la quintessenza del pop a livello mondiale: come si spiega questi maggiori "consensi" rispetto ad altri artisti, ivi pienamente snobbati? Le ragioni sono semplici:
A: La paradisiaca visione estetica di sè stessa medesima che la Kylie offre al suo folto pubblico è la ciliegina sulla torta, oro che cola per tutti gli allupati del mondo (e quindi anche di DeBaser);
B: La maggiore sobrietà e semplicità rispetto alle altre colleghe del music biz, spesso più snob e patinate, rendono la performer australiana decisamente "simpatica" e piacevole, nonchè maggiormente spontanea e sincera.
Terminato questo brevissimo excursus analitico sulla Minogue, passiamo a discutere seriamente riguardo uno dei suoi ultimi lavori in studio: Body Language, Annus Domini 2003. Ebbene, dopo i successi di Light Years e Fever, soprattutto il trionfo (pure consistente negli States) di Can't Get You Out Of My Head, Kylie intese confermare ancora una volta i suoi orientamenti verso la Dance Floor, tuttavia compiendo un deciso passo in avanti rispetto alle due precedenti releases le quali, benchè piacevoli, allegre, frivole e danzerecce, erano rimaste piuttosto "statiche" a livello di evoluzione di sound. In Body Language regalò alla sua tipica dance decisi connotati Elettronici, Lounge, Techno, House e Chill Out, spesso con riferimenti alle sonorità 80s, anticipando la rivoluzione Electro-Pop mainstream dell'ultimo periodo. Una svolta accurata, dettagliata nei minimi particolari, con il preciso intento di fornire maggiore eterogeneità sonora al suo lavoro, eterogeneità che risultava certamente più debole in Light Years e Fever.
Il primo estratto, Slow, dimostra alla perfezione questa volontà di rinnovamento: un sound elettronico pulsante ed un groove piuttosto "Eighties" rendono la traccia gustosa, sensuale e ammiccante, il tutto reso ancora più stuzzicante dal video nel quale la Minogue mostra il meglio di sè danzando voluttuosamente sdraiata su un telo da mare, attorniata da giovincelli intenti a compiere lo stesso atto. In Chocolate, uno dei brani meglio riusciti dell'album, si mescolano squisitamente R&B, ambient, Chill-Out e dance, intenti a produrre un finale estatico, passionale, solare e profondo; pure Red Blooded Woman privilegia alle distorsioni elettroniche un vibe poppish della migliore tradizione Kyliana, semplice, immediato, ballabile. Da menzionare il videoclip di Chocolate, ispirato ai musicals anni '50.
Con Still Standing e Secret (Take You Home) ci si imbatte in un Dance-Pop elettronico, bizzarro, contraddistinto da frivoli sintetizzatori e distorsioni, posti in particolar modo all'apertura dei brani. Le stesse tonalità elettroniche sono fuse con sounds lounge molto soft in Someday, Promises e I Feel For You , quest'ultima precipitante in un R&B/ambient estivo dai contorni molto funk.
Si verte verso una Dance con discrete contaminazioni Electro nella simpatica ed immediata Obsession, mentre Loving Days recupera l'amosfera romantica e naturale di Chocolate, attraverso un buon mix di Lounge, R&B, Ambient e Chill-Out.
Un lavoro pienamente godibile, a partire dall'ammiccante copertina. Ora forniscano i miei cari colleghi DeBaseriani le loro personali annotazioni sulle succulente fattezze estetiche della Kylie Minogue. Non ci resta che unirci in coro agli ululati virtuali e multimediali di tutti gli estimatori del prosperoso e perfetto deretano di Kylie piuttosto che dei suoi album (e chi non lo fa?)
