The Dream Syndicate sono un gruppo rock statunitense formatosi a Los Angeles nel 1981, tra i principali esponenti del Paisley Underground. La formazione classica comprende Steve Wynn, Kendra Smith, Karl Precoda e Dennis Duck; successivamente sono entrati Mark Walton e Paul B. Cutler. Sciolti nel 1989, si sono riformati nel 2012 pubblicando nuovi album.

Opere chiave: The Days of Wine and Roses (1982), Medicine Show (1984), Live at Raji’s (1989). Reunion dal 2012 con album come How Did I Find Myself Here? (2017), These Times (2019), The Universe Inside (2020). Brani ricorrenti nei live: Halloween, That’s What You Always Say, Boston, John Coltrane Stereo Blues.

Le recensioni celebrano soprattutto i classici (Medicine Show, The Days of Wine and Roses) e la potenza live (Live at Raji’s, tour 2014–2017). La reunion dal 2012 è accolta con favore (How Did I Find Myself Here?, These Times), mentre The Universe Inside riceve critiche. Ricorrono temi di chitarre abrasive, feedback e jam ipnotiche.
