Due passaggi fondamentali.

1. I wanted to ask you about the last track on “Give it Back” – “Their Satanic Majesties’ Second Request”. Who is the guy ranting out a fire and brimstone type sermon on there? Is that John Hagee?

I’m going to have to think about that. The last track on this [gesturing to the album I’m holding]… I don’t know but the thing about that… That’s mistitled because that one is called “Enrique’s Dream”. It’s a piece of art. So, I’ll have to tell them that that’s wrong.

Is this a weird version that I have or something?

That’s on a label but mistakes happen. It’s like Ricky [Maymi] that plays guitar in the group was like “Listen, man. If you go and make one more recording and the band’s not on it – we are all quitting.” I said, “You have to come up to the studio then cause that’s where I write the music while I’m recording. You have to come up and wait ‘til it’s your time.” So, he did. He came out and he fell asleep so I recorded his face snoring and then built this whole soundscape. You have your lens cap on.

[Note: Yes, I was taking photos of Anton Newcombe with a lens cap on my camera! I am not a photographer. I am barely a writer. I took a few awful photos but enough to draw from. Hopefully, my illustration speaks for itself and captures the essence of Anton]

So, he’s snoring and I recorded a preacher sort of ranting through a tremolo with these drones going on and… but I liked it. It’s cool. And the shit that he’s saying is out of control. He’s like “Run like an Olympian! Never been short of breath! And only Jesus knows where the last diamond mine will be found!” What are you fucking talking about? He actually says that. “And only Jesus knows where the last diamond mine will be found.” Fuckin’ who cares where the last diamond mine will be found? They have more diamonds than they could ever use. They hide them in a fuckin’ hole just to raise the price. It was cool, the mic was running directly into a Fender Vibrato horn going “bah bahbahbah!” and it was just like “merpmerpmerpmerp!” and I was playing it so loud just coming from a little black and white tv that they had in the recording studio all the way across. It was really a textural piece and I was doing all those drones just doing the knobs and in the other room of the studio Ricky was sleeping and I had all these microphones around his face and he’s just going “[snoring noise]” and I’m just mixing them. So, I just thought it was funny the juxtaposition of somebody snoring and…

@[Battlegods] questo è il disco di cui ti parlavo, ti dico che la recensione non rende il giusto merito a un disco che è stato veramente un oggetto di culto collettivo nella comunità psych degli ultimi anni.

In verità sarei anche innamorato della vocalist e glielo ho anche detto. Lo sa anche il marito, che poi sarebbe il suo 'compare'. Devo dire che nessuno dei due è rimasto particolarmente impressionato dalla cosa.

@[G] devo sottoporre alla tua attenzione quella che considero una 'problematica' (seppure non gravosa). Visto che si sono moltiplicati in maniera esponenziale i diversi gruppi d'ascolto, cosa che accolgo con grande piacere, visto che tutti questi sono molto molto attivi e usati, e che non mi dispiace farne parte; devo tuttavia sottoporre alla tua attenzione la problematica relativa il moltiplicarsi delle notifiche. Che, essendo io un 'contemplatore' e analista e conseguentemente anche un commentatore e risponditore periodico alle varie notifiche e interventi, mi rende veramente complicato cogliere i punti fondamentali dove intervenire con tutta la mia saggezza e il mio notorio bagaglio di conoscenze. In definitiva, non è che in qualche modo si potrebbe trovare una via per disattivare le notifiche di un gruppo in particolare? Cioè, una modalità con la quale io decida di far parte di un gruppo, ma di non ricevere tutte le notifiche? Tipo come con gli ascolti. Ciao a tutti.

#spaghetti (25) Lucio Fulci - I quattro dell'apocalisse (1975)

Anticonvenzionale, al di là di ogni genere. Ci sono mescalina, torture e vendette, c'è il mito del west e scene psichedeliche e allucinate, matti che parlano con i morti, bari e puttane e villaggi di minatori. Ennesimo capolavoro del maestro Lucio Fulci. Al solito con un grandissimo Tomas Milian. Bravissimo e guascone Fabio Testi, bellissima Lynne Frederick.

Colonna sonora tra le più belle in assoluto della storia del cinema. Alterna composizioni e musiche di Bixio/Frizzi/Tempera a quelle del gruppo psichedelico Benjamin Franklin Group.

#spaghetti (24) Sergio Sollima - Corri uomo corri (1968) Corri Uomo Corri

Ancora Tomas Milian (oramai consacrato come uno dei grandissimi del genere) nei panni di Cuchillo Sanchez e protagonista di un film di Sergio Sollima. L'ultimo della trilogia e forse il minore dei tre, ma non per questo meno degno di attenzione. Sequel ideale del primo film.

Colonna sonora di Bruno Nicolai.

Penultimo capitolo di una lunga serie. Siamo quasi alla fine. Preparatevi...
