Da incorniciare.

solo due versi per farvi cogliere la "commovente sgangheratezza" di Linkous. Da Saturday: "You are a car / you are a hospital / I'd walk to hell and back / to see you smile / on Saturday". Da Tears On Fresh Fruit: "I couldn't do nothing but watch as her tears / fell on fresh fruit". E dovreste sentire che perle di musiche. Anzi stasera metto un po' di sample, va'.

Altro stralcio d'intervista... "With Grandaddy, I think we steal from each other all the time. It kind of freaks me out if I read that sort of thing. I don't read music papers. If I'm on tour and they're laying around, I'll look at them and I've read a few reviews where they mention Sparklehorse in comparison with new bands. It made me feel bad, like a veteran or something."
What are you doing when you're not touring or recording? "Usually sitting in my house on top of a mountain. I got trapped in the house by a bear a few weeks ago. A big black bear and I couldn't go out for a few hours and that was a good day - getting trapped in the house by a bear." Whereabouts is this then? "The Smoky Mountains. There's a lot of musicians down there. Mostly country and bluegrass musicians. I don't really have friends who are musicians. I have friends who hunt. Guys that come over the house and they're covered in deer blood." :) Ok la smetto

Linkous a proposito del prossimo album: "The next one, I think, is going to be way more up-tempo pop songs". Si sarà messo d'accordo con Tom Barman per 'sta storia delle canzoni più 'up-tempo'? Cito MaledettaPrimavera: ma che cazzo vuol dire up-tempo? :)

Sigh... Mi commuovo da quanto è bella... Scusate... ma Linkous lo adoro forse anche più di SKC (che amo). Che dura la vita dell'appassionato di musica. E io ti rivoto zigghio!

Mancava proprio "Vivadixie..." tra le rece di Linkous (beh in realtà mancherebbero anche i Dancing Hoods... ma chi ce li ha?). Parliamo davvero di uno dei migliori 5 dischi degli anni '90... anche se non concordo tanto con tutte le etichette che hai citato e anche se preferisco (lievissimamente) "It's A Wonderful Life". Comunque quello che conta è il valore assoluto dello stile e della poetica di Mark Linkous (che non è solo voce e chitarra: è TUTTI gli Sparklehorse, anche se magari non come "esecutore materiale"), e fai bene a sottolinearlo! La musica semplice, i suoni assurdi, le atmosfere surreali... e cazzo "Spirit Ditch" hai ragione a citarla... è meravigliosa. Essenziale, spettrale, fragile, e al contempo così 'densa'. L'elogio della lentezza... come del resto tante canzoni di quel fottuto genio.

:D già... e dimenticavo: l'etichetta per cui incide Feist (Arts&Crafts) è stata fondata proprio dai Broken Social Scene. Me lo confermò il loro frontman (il simpa della cumpa), prima di offrire a zzz e joser delle noccioline americane.
